So, I kinda stole this idea from my cousin, Saf, who wrote an intriguing entry. Sort of a song tribute to relationships gone wrong. I figured I could piggyback on the idea (sort of), because it is a good one... and I really have nothing else to blog about at the present...

The Top Five Musical Recording Permanently Ruined for Miss Jessi By Their Association With ONE Doomed Romance... That Nigga Dick...

1. You-- Brian McKnight (I Remember You-1994)-- in commenting on this post on Saf's blog, this is the one song that came to mind immediately. Alot of people I know have never heard this particular Brian McKnight song... it's on the less popular 2nd album "I Remember You" released in 1994. I have always loved this song. It's so beautiful. This is actually the only Brian McKnight CD I own. Now, I know I didn't meet That Nigga Dick until 2000. That fact is irrelevant. This song will always and forever be associated with our first sexual experience... one of the best sexual experiences of my life (unfortunately)... because it was on a mix CD he played during the encounter... and I CANNOT hear this song without travelling back in time to April of 2001 and remembering everything that happened from then up until now... so I just don't play it. The CD is collecting fucking dust...

2. That's Why I Love You-- Boyz II Men (Full Circle-2002)-- I don't know if anybody else is even on this album like I am... I had always said this song would be the song that my next husband and I would have our first dance to, because it's a BEAUTIFUL love song... but now I don't think that can happen... simply because this song is associated with this mu'fucka... Let me explain. He bought this CD for me as a gift... not any particular holiday or anything, just because... he bought it, on some old "I'm gonna try to make it work between us" bullshit. He told me he wanted me to hear this song... said he dedicates it to me, to us... and in listening to that song, I really thought he and I were actually going to make it happen... boy how things change...

3. Never Been-- Mary J Blige (No More Drama-2001)-- Now, early Mary will have you on some bullshit, for real... and No More Drama was the album where Mary was starting to get happy, but she wasn't quite there yet... "Never Been" reminded me of Dick because in all actuality, in my mind, I had every intention on marrying this nig... I had never felt this way about anybody before... and I haven't felt that way since (though LeDon and I are growing into something... that's another post...) I mean, he made me feel some kind of way I can't even describe to you guys... and it was beautiful... for about 5 minutes...

4. Triumph-- Wu Tang Clan (Wu Tang Forever-1997)-- Actually, Wu Tang PERIOD is ruined for me... though I can still listen to it, I think about him when I do so... so, I am a HUGE Wu fan... and so is he... we had so many discussions about Wu it's ridiculous. You would have thought we were part of the Wu Tang Clan as much as we knew about them nigs. When he and I first met, before anything remotely sexual came into play, all we would talk about was music... and Wu was the topic we discussed most often... we went to 2 Wu concerts together... when a new Wu album came out, whoever made it to the record store first would buy 2, one for themselves and one for the other... that was ONE thing we both ALWAYS agreed on... this is both of our Favorite Wu Tang cut... damn...

5. Soon- Christion (Ghetto Cyrano- 1997)-- He and I had agreed when we were on some "We're Gonna be together" shit that this was "Our Song"... damnit. I love this song... permanatly tainted...

And there you have it... 5 songs permantly ruined because of him... ah well... life does go on... right?
