Giving Up My Place As The "Youngest"

So... I've known about this for quite some time, though I only told a few people.

I have a little brother.

Now, most of my freinds, and even some of my family will be like "Wha?!?", but the truth is the light. I have a younger brother.

His name is Nesbitt LaVance Fowler. He's 29 and lives in Philly. He is my father's youngest child. I found out about him last year. I've been trying to locate him since that time. I was coming up empty. I was on my way to giving up, and then something happended.

I don't know exactly how it happened, but his mother called my mother and my search for my little brother ended. I know where he is now.

Unfortunately, he is in an Eastern Pennsylvania prison until the end of the year... I hate to say history repeats itself, but damn.

I took the infamous "first step" and wrote a 5 and a half page letter to my little brother. It actually took my about 2 hours to write, and that is very unlike me. I actually sat in the middle of my bed for a good 30 minutes with the date and time in the margin and a greeting on the top line, trying to figure out what the hell I was going to say to him... I mean, exactly what do you say? "Hey, I'm your big sister. I had no idea you existed until last summer, even though Pops knew for the last 28 years. Let's get to know each other." I mean, as stupid as that sounds, that's exactly how it went... I told him about his half brother (my brothers), our half sister, neices and nephews. I expressed to him how I would really like to get to know him. I mean, after all, that is my family.

I got a reply from him a few days later. It was just as long. Difference is, he knew about all of us. he just didn't have the means to locate us, because he didn't know any of our names. he told me about my 2 neices (Andrea who's 12, and Michelle who's 6). He told me all about him, and some things about his life. About how he is so happy that he finally has a connection with his father's family and he can't wait to come to Cleveland to meet us all. It made me smile ear to ear. I mean, damn... I got a little brother... how do you love that?
